New Horizons for Seniors community participation and leadership funding grants of up to $25,000 are expected to be available in Spring 2009 for community-based projects that encourage seniors to play an important role in their communities. For more information, go here.
New Horizons for Seniors capital assistance funding grants of up to $25,000 are expected to be available in Fall 2009 for upgrading community facilities and equipment related to existing programs and activities for seniors. For more information, go here.
New Horizons for Seniors contribution funding of up to $250,000 for national or regional projects that raise awareness of the abuse of older adults are expected to be available at an as yet unspecified date. For more information on elder abuse awareness funding, go here.
RBC Foundation targets project/programs for funding that add value to the scope of services offered by an organization. Recent recipients have included senior-serving agencies. For more information, go to www.rbc.com/donations.
Alberta Centre for Injury Control and Research welcomes requests for large donations ($2,500 to $12,000) and small (under $2,500). The deadlines for large donations are generally June 1 and Nov. 1. Applications for small requests are accepted on an ongoing basis. Funds are aimed at increasing individuals and community safety and reducing injuries. Alberta Historical Resource Foundation funds community heritage projects that include the publication of local history books and the collection of oral history. For more information, go here. Annual application deadlines are Feb. 1 and Sept. 1.
Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation’s Sport Participation Initiative Program provides support for the development and operation of programs for under-represented groups that will enhance or increase their opportunities to participate in sport, coaching, officiating and volunteer leadership. Application deadlines are May 1 and Oct. 1 each year. For information, go here.
Allstate Foundation of Canada funds activities and/or educational initiatives related to crime prevention, road safety or home safety. For more information, go here. Send requests for funding to foundation@allstate.ca. There are no specific deadlines for applications.
Edmonton Community Foundation seeks to “honour the diversity of our community; build a stronger, healthier and safer community for all citizens; and inspire a positive and enduring impact in our community”. Minerva Foundation provides "seed" or bridge funding to help recipient organizations become better established, and to “deliver their programs more efficiently and effectively and/or deliver new program(s) that are needed urgently in our community”. Application deadlines are March 31 and Sept. 30 every year. For more information, go here.
The Muttart Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant applications except for training and bursaries. Bursaries are available to pay for the tuition or registration costs of short-term courses, workshops and other training opportunities. Training grants enable agencies to bring a trainer to their organization(s). “We are more receptive to training requests that may serve the needs of several charities.” For more information go to http://www.muttart.org/index.html.
Wild Rose Foundation’s quarterly grants program enhances and maintains organizational capacity “within the funding parameters of health, social services and community services. We have supported rural and urban organizations such as volunteer centres, cultural organizations, youth and seniors groups, emergency and crisis shelters, disability groups and specific health related organizations, among others.” A $50,000 maximum grant is available. The application deadlines are Jan. 1, April 1, July 1 and Oct. 1. To access an application form go here.
City of Edmonton Community Investment Operating Grant funding targets “the provision of programs and activities that help the city's residents strengthen personal or community life; promotion of relations among individuals and groups in which ethnic, racial, religious and linguistic attributes are prized and respected,” and activities “in which individuals choose to participate in their leisure time, whether that activity is physical, social or intellectual”.
